Spiritual Warfare

Put into Practice:

This week the practice is to create a prayer plan to engage in spiritual warfare and to be able to fight daily against temptation (Ephesians 6:10-20).
-
Find routine moments in your daily life that you can pray (walking across campus, driving to work, etc). Our goal is to not just to have a better life of prayer, but to have a life of prayer. (1 Thess 5:16-18)
-
Come up with a prayer plan for how you can use prayer to engage in spiritual warfare throughout your day.
-
Come up with a war cry to pray when the dominion of darkness attacks.

With a Friend:

What from the lesson stuck out to you?
-
How often do you consider the spiritual war we find ourselves in every day?
-
What situations in life, or emotions, or temptations have you experienced where you think you may be under spiritual attack?

Read through Ephesians 6:10-20
-
What does it look like to put on the armor of God in our daily life? How can we do that?
-
If prayer is the way we fight, what areas do you need to be “fighting” for yourself and others?

In what ways have you decided to live out the practice for the week?
-
What daily routine do you want to add prayer to?
-
What is your “war cry”?

Family Group:

Have you ever had an experience where you were being chased down by someone or something? (a sibling, a dog, the police, etc.)
-
Even if it's just fun and games, being chased feels really scary and exhilarating!
-
People usually run fastest when something is after them!

Proverbs 28:1 “The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.”
-
What areas of your life do you feel like you’re afraid of? What responsibilities or situations do you avoid or “run from”?
-
Hard conversations, owning up to wrongdoing, etc.

Eph 6:10-12
-
How do we as humans experience the struggle against the spiritual forces of this world, aka spiritual warfare?
-
How does that make you feel, that the Bible confirms there are things unseen going on, influencing the world around us?

Eph 6:13-20
-
We defend ourselves by putting on the armor of God
-
Truth, righteous living, peace, faith, and the Word of God
-
These things are our defenses against the darkness
-
How do we put those on?
-
-
How do we fight? How can we go on the offensive against the dominion of darkness?
-
Prayer
-
“All occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests”
-
What do you pray or want to start praying about in order to fight the dominion of darkness?
-
-
We should be bold as lions, not running in fear from the evil in this world!
-
Find a “prayer partner” for the week from this group, and try to fight together at least once this week.
-
Find a way to pray that you think takes the fight to the enemy.
